Covent Garden would like visitors to enjoy a moment of reflection with a mesmerising new installation which wraps 32,000 square feet of mirrors around the eastern façade of the world-renowned Market Building.
Visitors gazing into the mirrored surface will be able to appreciate the nineteenth century classical architecture and modern minimalism as they collide with the sky in a dazzling spectacle of reflected light. In total, 67 mirrors have taken residence in the Piazza, the angles of which will be adjusted as time passes to create an ever-changing surface reflecting countless viewpoints and endless perspectives of Covent Garden through the seasons.
Reflect London is the latest visual curiosity from Covent Garden following cultural commissions from the likes of Charles Pétillon, Alex Chinneck and Jeff Koons, all of which attracted world-wide media attention. Cleverly, this artistic installation has been created to conceal essential maintenance work taking place on the Grade II listed building and is certainly more aesthetic than traditional hoardings. Reflect London has been brought to life by design agency Sculptivate and creative advisors Verrecchia & Partners’, and will be in place for you to experience for around eight months.
