Ones of a Kind
Some time ago, the Apple Market traders were invited to design and produce limited edition crafts to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the current market. No fewer than 23 of the craft stallholders picked up the gauntlet and have produced hand-made items of great craftsmanship. But these will not be museum pieces, each is on sale to the general public so this month it could be your chance to own a piece of London's evolving history.
Pictured here clockwise from top left are some of the limited edition items available for sale: Daiva Sutkiene's Anniversary felted brooch (from £29), Faiers one-of-a-kind Apple bag made from goathide and python skin (£375), Parker's anniversary hand-painted silk waistcoat, inspired by the artist Gris (£180), Jane Ireland's series of three hand-painted silk celebratory ties (£30 each) and Edson Raupp's Pineapple suitcase inspired by the Apple Market logo (£75). All items are strictly limited editions so if you are too slow you will miss out.
Competition
Ballet has been associated with Covent Garden for more than 250 years, so to celebrate, Covent Garden London is offering visitors to their website the chance to win an all-expenses-paid weekend away to Lagrasse in the south of France. The lucky winner will be jetted off to a special performance by Muse à Muse with dancers from the Royal Ballet Company (including principals Marianela Núñes and Thiago Soares).
