Muffinski’s

muffinski_review This convenient pit-stop, located adjacent to the west Piazza is well-established in Covent Garden, and has been selling a wide selection of, you’ve guessed it, muffins amongst other assorted treats for more than 20 years. Muffins are the staple of their trade with a staggering array of over 30 varieties to choose from. Particular favourites, which we sampled on our lunchtime visit, are Raspberry & white chocolate, Apple, cinnamon & banana and Toffee, nut & chocolate. There are also savoury options which change daily; Cheese & spinach was one of the choices that day. Each muffin on offer has its own distinct flavour combinations and all were tasty and wholesome. For readers with specific dietary requirements, or if you’re looking to lose a few extra pounds, a large proportion of the muffins are fat-free, sugar-free, dairy-free or gluten-free, sometimes in combination. Furthermore, all muffins can be baked to order (in multiples of six with three hours prior notice) to cater to specific requirements.

Muffinski’s also offers Fresh soups, Sandwiches, Panini and Bagels, as well as your choice of hot and cold drinks, but their second main speciality is Frozen yoghurt. This is 99% fat-free and is blended to order with any combination of fresh fruit. Manager Asif Sabir told us that tangy Blackcurrant & cranberry and refreshing Mango & papaya were amongst the favourites with his customers. Again, those we sampled were delicious.

All muffins are priced at £1.80 (or £2.20 eat in) and frozen yoghurt starts at £3.10. Special offers are also available: any muffin plus any frozen yoghurt costs £3.80 (£4.50 to eat in) or any muffin with soup is £4.10.

If you are yet to discover Muffinski’s, it can be highly recommended as a great breakfast or lunchtime alternative to the default sandwich option. Indeed the fresh, healthy ingredients, diverse choice and competitive pricing may mean that it soon becomes a favourite in its own right.
