My name is Christoph and I’m a student from Germany. I have been working for almost 4 weeks for In and Around Covent Garden and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. It was a big step from my hometown Rostock to move to London and be in a new world of work. A large, international city, another language and new colleagues. But it was the right decision.
In the first few weeks I have already learned a lot of fresh and innovative things. It’s interesting to see how to create a monthly magazine for one of the most vibrant areas of London. All the people of In and Around Covent Garden have to work closely together and they have one goal: to promote Covent Garden by informing local residents, businesspeople and tourists of what is going on in the area.
It’s really exciting to be in this area because you come here for work everyday and you always find out something new.
The Street Performers, the range of different shops, pubs and restaurants and the different nationalities, it’s like being in a big melting pot.
The working climate is great as well. It’s exciting to get in touch with different English business people at business events and talk to them, write critical analysis and business reports as well as work with the database and do interesting and difficult research projects.
I would urge everyone who wants to work in a foreign country to work in the Covent Garden area to improve their language, work and social skills.
