Projects introduced to local businesses at previous meetings include London Underground’s upgrade of Covent Garden station and Thames Water’s Victorian Mains Replacement programme. The Metropolitan Police (via Westminster and Camden’s respective Safer Neighbourhood Teams) have not only kept us up-to-date with their work, they have also been able to forge relationships with many local businesses.
Camden’s infamous plan to put up a needle exchange facility within Tottenham Court Road underground station was withdrawn after successful representation and the concerted efforts of the Forum in 2006. This outcome alone demonstrates the key role that the Forum has to play in the local community as it is effective in influencing decisions by presenting a united response from the local businesses and stakeholders.
