Reading on the tube
To tie in with the London Transport Museum’s latest exhibition on the Art of the Poster, a new book has been published which should be of great interest to those who know about graphic design and/or London’s social history. London Transport Posters: A Century of Art and Design is available from the museum shop and has hundreds of full-colour pictures of the original artworks which went on to become some of the most iconographic tube posters. Alongside the illustrations there is informative commentary about design and selection processes.
The exhibition can only scratch the surface of the underground poster but the book goes a stop further in explaining the methodology of the art. This tome is available from the museum for £30.
